I have a sweet story to tell
An old story I know so well
It is the tale of how Pride fell
And landed shamefully in hell

He used to be lowly and wise
Until he chose the serpent lies
Over godly and sound advice
Of obedience to sacrifice

He longed for wealth, influence and fame
He craved for pow'r beyond his frame
He loved riches than a good name
Not knowing they'll all bring him shame

He longed to ride on top the world
He craved for fame that spreads abroad
Far beyond what he could afford
He really craved to be like God

So he settled at a fair deal
With the devil's approving seal
Not knowing he'd declared his will
At the expense of his own will

Now after the deal had been done
High up and swiftly they were gone
So high he seemed close to the sun
And yet his soft skin did not burn

He was raised to a lofty height
So high he seemed close to sunlight
And closer to the moon at night
And up there he felt very light

He felt the wealth, influence and fame
He held the pow'r within his frame
He loved the fame than his good name
All he craved for finally came

He felt atop the whole wide world
He heard his fame far and abroad
Far beyond what he could afford
He truly seemed to be like God

Then at the world's peak he appeared
Held by Satan he needs not care
But then Lucifer disappeared
And Pride came tumbling down with fear

All his worth vanished in a flash
His world was falling to a clash
He didn't land with a slight splash
Oh no, he landed with a crash!

This is the tale I had to tell
The old story I know so well
The sweet story of how Pride fell
And landed fatally in hell

When the devil lifts a man high
It's so that his fall may be great
Pride goes before a fatal fall
A haughty spirit before doom

He who is down needs not fear fall
Therefore humble yourself Under
The mighty hand of God and He
Will exalt you in due season.
