The Word Is Ours Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ IKIK LCLC MNMN OPOQ RSRR TUTU RRRR VWXW| In the beginning was the word of God | A |
| Ever weighty in the realm of His sway | B |
| The lot of th' wards is forged on His tod | A |
| Every yield is but subject to His say | B |
| - | |
| With the word He has created His Word | C |
| Not from the fluid induced by the men | D |
| Nor was it plain like the beak of a bird | C |
| But as He wished to occur with the Pen | D |
| - | |
| Jesus His Word was to Him but a slave | E |
| The Son of Man nay never of the Lord | F |
| Loved was he from the cradle to th' grave | E |
| And held esteemed among those we adored | F |
| - | |
| The birth of th' Word was great as his leave | G |
| Like great grandpa the semblance of Adam | H |
| Both from the clay as all Muslims believe | G |
| Via the womb of an eminent madam | H |
| - | |
| He was sent to the lost sheep of Israel | I |
| He came to fulfil not destroy the Law | J |
| The message was clear as brought by Gabriel | I |
| And the God's word is but without a flaw | J |
| - | |
| Besides the lore and skill of the Gospel | I |
| Bestowed on him by the Maker of all | K |
| Jesus was blessed with feats of miracle | I |
| By God's leave he shut the plague did befall | K |
| - | |
| Among his feats he could talk as a tot | L |
| He'd draw in the sand to make a live bird | C |
| All this by his own skill Nay it was not | L |
| But power from the Lord and gift conferred | C |
| - | |
| He could cure the leper and heal the blind | M |
| The touch of Jesus to the sick was health | N |
| He could tell of the future from his mind | M |
| This rare grace on him was of holy wealth | N |
| - | |
| Yet to the dead he could render a life | O |
| And saved every soul from the bonds of sin | P |
| Hence the ill minds of Jews did rail in strife | O |
| And so walked to the path of their ruin | Q |
| - | |
| Hit flog lam and knock him on the forehead | R |
| So did they claim the death of Jesus Christ | S |
| But he was not killed or raised from the dead | R |
| Neither was he nailed nor crushed on the crost | R |
| - | |
| But was raised to the highest of the high | T |
| As to the God let them say but the truth | U |
| Christ as the Son of God is but a lie | T |
| None of such from him was said in his youth | U |
| - | |
| Just as they do in the message of Christ | R |
| So do Muslims believe in the report | R |
| And in Moses' in David's and the rest | R |
| But in the sound full form not in the short | R |
| - | |
| Muhammad has come to correct their wrong | V |
| And not to wrong the message of Jesus | W |
| By God the truth has been told from his tongue | X |
| And we have known that Christ is more of us | W |
