Sennuccio i' vo' che sappi in qual manieraA
-
HE RELATES TO HIS FRIEND SENNUCCIO HIS UNHAPPINESS AND THE VARIED MOOD OF LAURAA
-
-
To thee Sennuccio fain would I declareA
To sadden life what wrongs what woes I findB
Still glow my wonted flames and though resign'dB
To Laura's fickle will no change I bearA
All humble now then haughty is my fairA
Now meek then proud now pitying then unkindB
Softness and tenderness now sway her mindB
Then do her looks disdain and anger wearA
Here would she sweetly sing there sit awhileC
Here bend her step and there her step retardD
Here her bright eyes my easy heart ensnaredE
There would she speak fond words here lovely smileC
There frown contempt such wayward cares I proveF
By night by day so wills our tyrant LoveG

ANONH
-
-
Alas Sennuccio would thy mind could frameI
What now I suffer what my life's drear reignH
Consumed beneath my heart's continued painH
At will she guides me yet am I the sameI
Now humble then doth pride her soul inflameI
Now harsh then gentle cruel kind againH
Now all reserve then borne on frolic's veinH
Disdain alternates with a milder claimI
Here once she sat and there so sweetly sangJ
Here turn'd to look on me and lingering stoodK
There first her beauteous eyes my spirit stoleL
And here she smiled and there her accents rangJ
Her speaking face here told another moodM
Thus Love our sovereign holds me in controlL
