| driven by the realm of shapes in lawful sensation | A |
| Odysseus through exalted ways and by great example lead | B |
| earth given stars surpassing every deed | C |
| All things in views and all things one hears | D |
| and yet the light cannot penetrate to pierce | E |
| Eternal providence foreknows thought and desire | F |
| for there will be no freedom of will entire | F |
| Occurrence of the event cannot be avoided | G |
| false opinions missing direction pointed | G |
| Secret signs of truth with love so great | H |
| knowing already what it seeks from the eternal mate | H |
| Ignorance discern the hidden form | I |
| separating the truth in still and storm | I |
| The blindness in operation human reasoning | J |
| cannot approach immediate divine deepening | J |
| It remains absolute and infringed by necessity | K |
| until the exercise of skill becomes the clarity | K |
