Rhyme Scheme: ABCDE FGBHH DHBIJ KLMNO PQRES FTUVW AHBNB

Take me back to KenyaA
Take me back homeB
Take me to my motherlandC
A peaceful place serene and prestigiousD
Take me back to the nicest place I knowE
-
This is not the Kenya I grew up inF
This is not the motherland I've always cherishedG
This place no longer feels homeB
Someone please explain to meH
What really happened to my countryH
-
Tell me where it started raining on usD
Please explain to meH
Kenya is home Kenya is not homeB
Our pride is getting lostI
Our honey is now sourJ
-
Wait a momentK
Did I get that rightL
Another tax Taxes taxes and taxesM
Where are we heading toN
Are we really going to surviveO
-
Every night I have nightmaresP
I sleep with crossed fingersQ
Praying and fasting crying and weepingR
would I wake up to imposition of another tax tomorrowE
Will I ever wake up to better and affordable living conditionsS
-
As I lay to sleep fear sets inF
Maybe this be the last dayT
I'm sleeping on an untaxed bedU
Maybe tomorrow our childrenV
Will be paying tax for breast milkW
-
Please take me to KenyaA
I beseech you to sympathize with meH
And take me to my homeB
Take me to Kenya the Kenya I knewN
Take me back home make me feel homeB
