If you’re holding a grudge against me, don’t greet me.
I don’t want anybody to pretend to be my friend.

Frankly, it doesn’t matter whether you like me or not.
I don’t socialise with hypocrites and evil-minded persons.

Don’t attempt to satisfy me by giving me something.
I can’t think of a gift that will make me feel good.

I’m not covetous of your ability and financial status.
You can’t impress me, for I’m not a typical person.

I don’t entertain close-fisted persons and freeloaders.
Furthermore, I never queued for handouts, especially food.

Perhaps you think I’m abnormal not to miss people.
If you go away for a long time, I won’t yearn for you.

You seldom speak to me because of my outspokenness.
Since you and I can’t get along, don’t mourn when I’m dead.

When you’re burying me, don’t make noise over my coffin.
I don’t want anybody to weep crocodile tears for me.

Don’t preach and sing at my funeral, for I won’t hear you.
And please don’t put wreaths on my gravestone.
