Our fallen heroes in the time pastA
Helplessly you fought for our freedomB
We celebrate your heroismB
-
There was a countryC
And there will be a countryC
Biafra the land that flowsD
with milk and honeyC
-
Though our fallen heroesD
were dastardly massacredE
In far away landsF
-
Without fear or favourC
They stood for the landG
Hunger their living enemyC
-
Many a family went into extinctionH
Casualties are not only thoseD
who are deadI
But those who are woundedJ
-
A call to end the pogromsK
was turned downL
Ojokwu the legend stood like a rockM
Freedom and slavery fought tirelesslyC
-
We remember and celebrateN
your heroismB
Dacades have travelledO
But your memories live fresh in usP
-
To our living heroC
Namdi KanuL
May your quest for our freedomB
be rekindled every morningQ
-
Though subdued we are in EgyptR
Our freedom will smile on usP
You are our black MosesP
Pharaoh must let the Biafrans goC

Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke

Poet's note: This poem is dedicated to our fallen heroes who fought for Biafra independence. Its celebrates their heroism. This poem is a prophetic message that Biafra Republic will be a reality in no distant time. To our black Moses Namdi Kanu may he live long to actualize this dream and vision of total liberation. To our legend Ojukwo, may his soul rest in peace. Biafra will surely be a reality someday.
