Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke hails from Akokwa in Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria. He studied English and Literary Studies at Federal University Wukari, Taraba State. This poem is timely. "The Ugly Politics of Love" really mirrors the fate man finds himself in the dungeon of love. In the stone Age love was naturally a blissful moment with family, friends and loved ones without any selfish influence and interest attached. But today our society is mad and drunk with strings attached to love. Love among family, friends and lovers are politically attached to materialism and avarice for wealth. The poem "WITHDRAWN" is touchy and intriguing. The Poet persona decries the emotional torture she is going through in the hands of her lover. And each time she tries to make him understand, he pays deaf ears to her words. Pride and ego take hold of him. Do men actually have a destructive pride? Nice piece. The poem explores the plights of the Kenyan people. It satires the political, social, cultural and religious problems that have bedeviled the society in Kenya. The African regions share similar experiences. The problem of Africa in by and large is leadership problem. Our leaders are cantankerous and visionless. They are selfish and self centered. Nigeria as a country have similar issues too. Hope is our only consolation. We are praying and believing that God will deliver us someday.
