My nightrunner's dancesA
Have grown WeakB
He would dance with gustoC
Catapulting himself acrossD
Launching his gig beside my doorE
Pebbles would provide percussive effectF
As softly fast intermittently thenG
Violently they would caressH
My iron roofed lockdownI
-
He would sneezeJ
And whistleK
Whisper aloudL
Dash to the cowshedL
And call NyundoL
My ploughing bullockM
Making sure he PatsN
His bare buttocks onO
My mabati doorE
It would screamP
And almost let him inQ
-
If I tiptoed to catch himR
Under the belly of NyundoL
He would be I was toldL
Not even a scent of himR
Will I senseS
-
CovidL
And my night keeperT
No longer dances with vigourT
He is weak for he can't sneezeJ
The GSU have replacedL
The artistry and athleticismU
Of my midnight musicianV
-
For it seemsW
Corona has no immunityL
Neither to sorcerers nor sopranosX
Crickets and cicadas rule my homesteadL
While Nyundo missesA
My nightman's hissesY
-
My nightman's night runsZ
Have taken leaveA2
For he fears the sneezeJ
Felt in the dayL
Would take him in isolationV
For some timeB2
How will he runV
IsolatedL
