Slum Certainty Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDDEFGH IGJKLMNO PQDRS

Certainty in a slum is present by its absenceA
Or rather slums are ever certain of uncertaintyB
If ever there's certainty thenC
The night will be colder in the cold seasonD
Hotter in the hot seasonD
Mounts and molehills of human waste will line up the narrow strips between shacksE
And uric acid will prick the nostrils and eat the iron walls and roofsF
Hunger pangs will keep awake and keep you awake to plot for the next crumbsG
Thirst like a shadow always by your doorH
-
OtherwiseI
Uncertainty rules the slumsG
Who knows when it will flood and floor down the flats and flow away with lifeJ
What time the private developer will wall you in and erect a pyramidK
Or the government relocate you the relics to put up new houses and reallocate itselfL
Who knows when cholera or typhoidM
Pneumonia or dysentery will wash away this human painN
When Corona will corrode the Toyota Corolla junk that's your houseO
-
Slums are certainly vote richP
Are certain of periodic promisesQ
On periodic podiums and seasonal shows of compassionD
From certain honchos who in paradise dwell they're certain of your voteR
Be certain they won't return till it's certain they mustS
