After The German Subjugation Of France, 1871 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCADEFDFF

LO the twelfth year the wedding feast come roundA
With years for months and lo the babe new bornB
Out of the womb's rank furnace cast forlornB
And with contagious effluence seamed and crown'dA
To hail this birth what fiery tongues surroundA
Hell's Pentecost what clamour of all criesC
That swell from Absalom's scoff to Shimei'sC
One scornful gamut of tumultuous soundA
For now the harlot's heart on a new sleeveD
Is prankt and her heart's lord of yesterdayE
Spurned from her bed whose worm spun silks o'erlayF
Such fretwork as that other worm can weaveD
Takes in his ears the vanished world's last yellF
And in his flesh the closing teeth of HellF
