How much significance could there beA
In Heritage Day for you and meA
-
What is the footprint of our raceB
What is the origin that we faceB
-
Was there a ruler king or chiefC
Who had a reign however briefC
-
What was our historical backgroundD
Where exactly can it be foundD
-
Our ancestral lineage never providedE
A people so diverse and dividedE
-
Traditions and customs adopted from othersF
Who are we my sisters and brothersF
-
Hottentot Bushmen or Koi sanG
This is where it's said we come fromH
-
None of them were able to standI
For their acres or their landI
-
A people always caught in betweenJ
A racial divide or so it may seemK
-
So this year on Heritage DayL
Let the past be what it mayL
-
It won't determine what we decideM
We're moving forward with absolute prideM
-
As a people let us choseN
An uncertain pass is just no excuseO
-
This is what we witness nowP
We will not answer to AmalawuQ
-
The genetic joining of black and whiteR
Created a culture that just mightR
-
Set the pace for all to seeA
Discarding the past sets us freeA
-
In a Constitutional dispensationS
Free from divide and demarcationS
-
Building future success and prestigeT
Is how we honour our heritageU
