The 9th August 1956
Created new logistics

When women became the cornerstones
Of our country and our homes

It's women who marched and took a stance
Creating for all a better chance

At freedom and equality
At peace and human dignity

With humility, strength and determination
The Parliamentary Buildings their destination

A crowd with so much diversity
Rose up against adversity

Standing up to powers that be
Raising voices to set us free

Women of substance is who they were
Examples to us, that's for sure

What will tomorrow's generation say
Of every woman here today

Are we leaving a lasting impression
To which others can give expression

Are they able to speak out loud
Of things we did to make them proud

It's never too late for you or me
Phenominal Women we could be

Let's commemorate in such a way
Giving honour to Women's Day
