Fading Reverence: The Leader's Descent Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EFGG HHII

In a world where leaders are soughtA
Now a once revered head distraughtA
Bound by fading yearnings so frailB
Trapped by desires his own trailB
-
A bowing heart its will prevailsC
Ignoring reason its wisdom ailsC
In this scene I stand amazedD
Speechless my words fail dazedD
-
Gazing at one I once admiredE
Passionate soul now tired miredF
Won't time reveal its revealing lightG
When my chance to shine is in sightG
-
Growing to great heights so vastH
Only to stoop a fate amassedH
How do we surrender in the endI
To forces that make us condescendI

Poet's note: This poem was written on 19th of June, 2023 and, the inspiration came due to a discussion I had with my mentor. It is written for every leader out who have people looking up to them and also to every follower out there. This poem means the fall of some leaders and how they end up doing those things they stand again, it means there is a need to be steadfast and for followers to look up to the right people.
