Weary Will Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GDGD HIJI KDKD LMLM

The strongest creature for his sizeA
But least equipped for combatB
That dwells beneath Australian skiesA
Is Weary Will the WombatB
-
He digs his homestead undergroundC
He's neither shrewd nor cleverD
For kangaroos can leap and boundC
But wombats dig foreverD
-
The boundary rider's netting fenceE
Excites his irritationF
It is to his untutored senseE
His pet abominationF
-
And when to pass it he desiresG
Upon his task he'll centreD
And dig a hole beneath the wiresG
Through which the dingoes enterD
-
And when to block the hole they strainH
With logs and stones and rubbleI
Bill Wombat digs it out againJ
Without the slightest troubleI
-
The boundary rider bows to fateK
Admits he's made a blunderD
And rigs a little swinging gateK
To let Bill Wombat underD
-
So most contentedly he goesL
Between his haunt and burrowM
He does the only thing he knowsL
And does it very thoroughM
