It's time babe to pack that trailer and shop for a week and goA
We're heading bush for quiet time with two dogs in toeA
Honey's a seasoned gal with Coco an open bookB
The start was shit with coco the whinging sookB
-
But we're here outta Gloucester in a place called BrettiA
Hoping to capture the milky ways perfect night skyB
It starts out tops with a ripper two daysC
The skies are blue and touched by those warm sunraysC
-
Then comes day when it all starts to changeD
These screaming howling winds come bellowing over the rangeD
Chillin watching Netflix Bad Blood I thinkB
All fed up on tucker and about to have a drinkB
-
The wind picks up and smashes the tent and campE
Now give me the rain and a bit of dampE
Now this strong wind was constant fierce and strongB
We're inside holding poles as it's caving inF
-
Shell's crapping her duds I'm just hoping the tent will holdA
Now skip two days ahead and a few times these dogs were toldA
We wake up the next day a hole in the dogs tentA
They've chewed through the window it's time they get sentA
-
The wind is not letting up and we're at the end of our tetherG
Let's drop the dogs back home and head out again togetherG
One night at home in a bed shower and back on the roadA
Only us and a few things I forgot there's nothing to loadA
-
Frying pan looks ok and we've been there beforeH
The trailer hooked up and its foot to the floorH
We've decided to set camp on Old Jack's CornerG
With the trees lining the river it just seems a lil warmerG
-
All set up including the hammockB
And no fierce wind to make it a wreckB
The tent the solar and even the showerG
It's time for fun with the Miss TowersC
-
O'clock in the arvo and its all said and doneI
Its time to sit down on mine and her bumJ
Early the next day a bloody cold morning breaksC
And that air bed gets me again with good ole neck achesC
-
A top day ahead is what's said to beK
And from what I can gather they're on the moneyK
kookaburras perched around us just waiting for loveL
Magpies wrens crows and black cockies aboveL
-
With a piece of a sausage they all venture downM
With kookies feeding at my feet right there on the groundA
No sight of the goannas its seems this time aroundA
But this cheeky lil possum has made our kitchen her homeN
-
Now there's still no luck in catching a yabbieK
Can't wait till Shell tries one they're certainly not shabbyK
The campovens been tops with food far and wideA
Pork belly beef stew and a great silversideA
-
The chill hits a lil but nothing a beanie won't fixC
Time to stoke up that fire with hardwood not sticksC
It's now Monday morning and time to pack upO
We're heading home to see them two pupsC
-
Then we look at each other and without even a thoughtA
Madi's going to be angry confused and certainly distraughtA
Yep we're staying another week in this pristine spotA
With the possum kookaburras another stew in the potA
-
So we head into town to stack up on suppliesC
Then off to the bakery for them ripper piesC
We scoot to IGA and get the shopping doneI
Our clothes have been washed time to get them in the sunI
-
What a top day just knowing that we're staying another weekB
We can't go home now the holidays just at its peakB
Come Wednesday afternoon and its just sinking inF
A Jerusalem Falls walk what a brilliant winF
-
Now we settle in for dinner pork belly slaw and cornP
Now when ya camping with Shell and I it's pretty well the normQ
We've both finished our din dins and slothing like alwaysC
It's time now to relax and settle in for daysC
-
Then Jeff rocks up with pudding cream and custardA
Twas inhaled in a momemt cheers ya old bastardA
He's been a good neighbour with tips and knowledgeR
years of age a top bloke I pledgeS
-
Now there's stuff I'm not telling you in this port induced poemJ
It's for your own good and if you were there you'd of knownT
Now let me change this subject well just for a secondA
I've had zero luck catching that yabbie I beckonI
-
Just to show Miss Shell is all I truly desireG
A beautiful clear day topped by an intense campfireG
I'll get one one day and excite the pair of usC
Straight in the pot with ginger chilli and lemongrassC
-
A mouth watering experience every single person should tryB
Down to earth stuff you know something you can't buyB
It's a really long poem and your probably bored by nowU
But there's days left and deadset the tiniest rowA
-
I seriously don't know how much more I can love this girlV
Shell's my moment my past she is my whole worldA
Apart from my kids whom I'm starting to missC
With everyone here it would be pure blissC
-
So we made it a plan to spend a week all togetherG
Shell's seven my three in the much warmer weatherG
Eight grandkids running around exploring the bushW
We'll just smile at each other with a shove and a pushW
-
Now it's coming to the end of our peaceful stayA
I dare say we'll be home a week and plan our next getawayA
I've had a brilliant time with my girl and our venturesC
For years to come till we're old with denturesC
-
So I bid you farewell and the best of luckB
Enjoy this world around you it's time to run amokB
