Kicked back having a port, and I hears this splash,
Being curious as I am, I grab the torch in a flash,
Well wouldn't you know it, the 2nd time in 9 months,
I've had a personal encounter, with a duck billed platypus,

She sat there all frozen, like a starfish floating by,
Well that is until, she turned and caught my glaring eye,
She went absolutely bananas, and took off like a rocket,
I swear if she hit reverse, she'd fill that huge pouch pocket,

I sat up that cold night, i guess till just after one
Trying to catch another glimpse, of husband daughter or son,
Now I've told you this is the 2nd, and I've not mentioned the 1st
Because that's a whole different poem, a whole different verse

So to the platypus I'd seen, I'm sorry little mate,
But next time I see you , I'll know it's pure fate.
