Good Counsel Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCBBDECCEEFFBBGG HHIICCCC

The enforced sleep to blind it allA
restless thoughts and what may befallA
Rescued from tensions to clearB
the truth so free that there is no more fearB
Tormented fortunes destiny in wildernessC
all tired receiving gladsomenessC
The pilgrimage as soul pioneerB
dreaming the larger life with heavenly cheerB
No longer let the vain world claimD
by the idleness of the chief mistress to refrainE
Holding that dream to escape that wiseC
night shape liberty is the deviceC
To sleep it over labour for small gainE
may the weary nights spent in vainE
False and untrue knots of treasonF
when loves compassion is not the reasonF
Give the night the splendor as true proceederB
listen to whispers of the taintless pleaderB
Oh soul and bodies image guestG
fear not to touch that affection bestG
Since heavens love in pure immortal highH
has mercy echoing through that new day rising skyH
That celestial love that we forget and oughtI
counsel in lessons which needed to be taughtI
Lovers scorn that love to possessC
when virtue claims ungratefulnessC
Blessings for the nobler state to seeC
gone is the fear by conditioned miseryC
