Epitaph On Thomas Parnell Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEE

THIS tomb inscrib'd to gentle Parnell's nameA
May speak our gratitude but not his fameA
What heart but feels his sweetly moral layB
That leads to truth through pleasure's flowery wayB
Celestial themes confess'd his tuneful aidC
And Heaven that lent him genius was repaidC
Needless to him the tribute we bestowD
The transitory breath of fame belowD
More lasting rapture from his works shall riseE
While Converts thank their poet in the skiesE
