How old I wasA
Only my mum has an answerB
HopeC
Farewell to povertyD
-
A song for every homeE
A song for young and oldF
A song across tribes and tonguesG
A song for every faithH
-
June was the D dayI
Kashi is the ManJ
Every thumb will stand byK
Come rain come sunshineL
-
At Dawn of D dayI
No one wakes the otherB
Before the sunset is Kashi everywhereM
And every mind says farewell to povertyD
-
But the juntas watchN
From the corridor of powerB
With hiss and plan Kashi is a friend and enemyD
Kashi will never be was their pledgeO
-
And so it was Kashi would never beD
And days after they thumbP
What will the radio sayI
-
Annulled and fellow NigeriansQ
A joke or notR
Every tongue quarries every earS
The street boils with angerB
-
Men and women stand before the gunT
Death or Kashi was their pledgeO
And heads roll into grave and prisonT
Yet it's Kashi or nothingU
-
The Junta head from MinnaV
Steps aside in hurryD
Shonekan in Abach outW
Years after yearsX
-
The Nation is still in hopeless searchY
For the rebirth of KashiY
And hope farewel to povertyD
And how long will it takeZ
Only Astronomer can answerB
-
-
Live on JuneA2
