For Vanessa
Why cry, pretty Vanessa?
Why do you stay away from me?
Nothing I did for you could bring you contentment.
You felt that you’d be better off without me,
But sometimes I see you crying.
You’ve started a new life on your own,
But it hasn’t brought you happiness or prosperity.
Darling, don’t be so stubborn.
You know that my heart has been aching
Since you ran away from me.
The door to my love is always open,
But you refuse to enter again.
Darling, I didn’t push you away.
You chose to go your own way.
Nothing would make me happier
Than to have you back in my arms.
Something tells me that you still love me,
And my love for you hasn’t died.
You can come back to me whenever you want.
So why cry, pretty Vanessa?
Why do you stay away from me?
