Rhyme Scheme: ABCB BDEF GHBB IIJK BLBI MNO MGGI

Our cantankerous leadersA
have failed usB
We thought we voted a messiahC
But they became worse than JudasB
-
We are gullible before their feetsB
We are the architects of our fateD
Our birth right mortgaged for a potE
of porridgeF
-
The system is puncturedG
with corruption and greedH
Figure heads are ghost headsB
Under the caprices of the demonic CabalsB
-
We patiently await a SaviourI
Whose coming we look out forI
Who is behind the maskJ
Yahweh will expose them in due timeK
-
We are running out of patienceB
We are lied toL
That the Youths are the leadersB
of tomorrowI
-
But the tomorrow will never comeM
We are struggling and hustlingN
Under the mocking rain and the smiling sunO
-
Revolution our national anthemM
War of the pens are not heardG
Ghanaian youths deliveredG
Someday we must surely deliverI

Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke

Poet's note: This is a political poem. Its satires the leadership lipholes in Africa, to be precise Nigeria. The political leadership of Nigeria is nothing to write home about. We the youths are tired and frustrated with the nature of the governing system. The youths are rooming the streets of the nation in search of a job. Hunger slaps their faces. When will the youths become the leaders of tomorrow? The grey hairs have hijacked all jobs meant for the youths. We are clamoring for restructuring of the country. We are believing that someday things will turn around for good in Nigeria.
