| With green leaf furling round its cup of gold | D |
| Like tender maiden muffled from the cold | D |
| They sip and find their honey dreams are vain | E |
| Then feebly hasten to their hives again | F |
| The butterflies by eager hopes undone | G |
| Glad as a child come out to greet the sun | G |
| Beneath the shadows of a sunny shower | H |
| Are lost nor see to morrow's April flower | H |
