A Bit Of Gladness Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBBDED CFGFGBGB HBIBBJIJ BKBKBILI BMCMINBN CNCNBBNB

As I near my lonely cottageA
At the close of weary dayB
There's a little bit of gladnessC
Comes to meet me on the wayB
Dimpled tanned and petticoatedB
Innocent as angels areD
Like a smiling straying sunbeamE
Is my Stella like a starD
-
Soon a hand of tissue softnessC
Slips confidingly in mineF
And with tender look appealingG
Eyes of beauty sweetly shineF
Like a gentle shepherd guidingG
Some lost lamb unto the foldB
So she leads me homeward prattlingG
Till her stories are all toldB
-
Papa I'm so glad to see youH
Cousin Mabel came todayB
And the gas man brought a letterI
That he said you'd better payB
Yes and awful things is happenedB
My poor kitty's drowned to deathJ
Mamma's got the 'Pigs in Clover'I
Here she stops for want of breathJ
-
I am like the bold knight errantB
From his castle who would roamK
Trusting her my faithful stewardB
For a strict account of homeK
And each day I toil and hazardB
All that any man may dareI
For a resting place at evenL
And the love that waits me thereI
-
And sometimes I look with pityB
On my neighbor's mansion tallM
There are chambers full of picturesC
There are marbles in the hallM
Yet with all the signs of splendorI
That may gild a pile of stoneN
Not a living thing about itB
But the owner grim and loneN
-
I believe that all his millionsC
He would give without repineN
For a little bit of gladnessC
In his life like that in mineN
This it is that makes my pathwayB
Beautiful wherever trodB
Keeps my soul from wreck and ruinN
Keeps me nearer to my GodB
