O Lady Moon elect of all the spheres | B |
To be the guardian of the ocean tides | C |
I charge thee say by all thy hopes and fears | B |
And by thy face the oracle of brides | C |
Why evermore Remorse with thee abides | C |
Is life a bane to thee and fraught with tears | D |
That thus forlorn and sad thou dost confer | E |
With ghosts and shades Perchance thou dost aspire | F |
To bridal honours and thy Phoebus sire | E |
Forbids the banns whoe'er thy suitor be | G |
Is this thy grievance O thou chief of nuns | H |
Or dost thou weep to know that Jupiter | E |
Hath many moons his daughters and his sons | H |
And Earth thy mother only one in thee | G |
