Oh Mama Africa
Hear the cry of your people
For your departure has turned them feeble.
Ignorantly orchestrating your death
They’ve brought pain to their women
And severe hunger on their children
They’ve caused several mayhem
And continue to live opposite their anthem.

Oh Mama Africa
You were the most beautiful continent among your peers
Gifted with every natural and human resource
Yet with attitude so worse and magnitude
They’ve created jobless teaming youths,
Financial crisis and economic hardship
So brain drain has been your children’s comfort rain.

Oh Mama Africa
Your elected officials ships your glory
They loot and sail your resources off your shores
Leaving the motherlands dry
And the fatherlands deprived
Than a drunk driver your people also show reckless behaviours
Living oblivious to rules and regulations.

Oh Mama Africa
They destroy your lands in their selfish pursuits
And blame slavery for raking your fate
They then receive aids in suits and chill in expensive cars and suites
And turn ballot papers into bullets
Pouring your blood in the pits of politics
And tag it a dirty game
Yet others play it free and fair.

Oh Mama Africa
This shouldn’t have been your fate
Yet religion and politics has traded your worth
So all that your children seek for is quick wealth
Who is to restore your glorious mandate?
And awaken their mindsets before it’s too late!?
Oh African’s, where’s your honour?

Oh Mama Africa
I sit in the ashes of words
Wearing black on my melanin skin
Shedding tears of blood
For a great tree has fallen.
The river that quenched the thirst
of natives and foreigners has dried
Africa, the mother to the genesis of creation
has lost her reputation
And her children, their identity.
Now entombed in prerogatory and stigma
You’ve gone too soon, Arise Mama Africa!
