Oh Mama AfricaA
Hear the cry of your peopleB
For your departure has turned them feebleB
Ignorantly orchestrating your deathC
They ve brought pain to their womenD
And severe hunger on their childrenD
They ve caused several mayhemE
And continue to live opposite their anthemF
-
Oh Mama AfricaA
You were the most beautiful continent among your peersG
Gifted with every natural and human resourceH
Yet with attitude so worse and magnitudeI
They ve created jobless teaming youthsJ
Financial crisis and economic hardshipK
So brain drain has been your children s comfort rainL
-
Oh Mama AfricaA
Your elected officials ships your gloryM
They loot and sail your resources off your shoresN
Leaving the motherlands dryO
And the fatherlands deprivedP
Than a drunk driver your people also show reckless behavioursN
Living oblivious to rules and regulationsN
-
Oh Mama AfricaA
They destroy your lands in their selfish pursuitsN
And blame slavery for raking your fateQ
They then receive aids in suits and chill in expensive cars and suitesN
And turn ballot papers into bulletsN
Pouring your blood in the pits of politicsN
And tag it a dirty gameR
Yet others play it free and fairS
-
Oh Mama AfricaA
This shouldn t have been your fateQ
Yet religion and politics has traded your worthT
So all that your children seek for is quick wealthU
Who is to restore your glorious mandateQ
And awaken their mindsets before it s too lateQ
Oh African s where s your honourS
-
Oh Mama AfricaA
I sit in the ashes of wordsN
Wearing black on my melanin skinV
Shedding tears of bloodW
For a great tree has fallenD
The river that quenched the thirstX
of natives and foreigners has driedY
Africa the mother to the genesis of creationD
has lost her reputationD
And her children their identityM
Now entombed in prerogatory and stigmaA
You ve gone too soon Arise Mama AfricaA
