Like the salt of the earthB
That night defined usC
It proclaimed us mother and fatherD
And we had to push the agenda furtherD

God knowsE
How we didn't mince in our vowsF
That Satan and certain mammals couldn't poke their noseE
In what seemed to be our new marsG
A
We roared like hungry meal card politiciansH
And danced like new tacticiansH
No need for a few musiciansH
Our voices were mosquito repellentI
With sounds that silenced night frogsJ
Never mind the heartbeat and wasted sweatK
For I took every promise at the moment as an oathL

Now comes your earthly child as a priceM
You simply walk away from shameN
You have forgotten the past and you expect a futureD
No harness for your blood No love for your lineageO
Curse me forever castigate and cross out my historyP
But own up to the battle of your ballsQ
A footballer can't be a referee in the same gameN
As you shoot and score so must you defend your gameN
Lest you will loose the game the tournament and your legacyP

Poet's note: Millions of women are turned into single mothers at an early age and they end up making ends meet to provide for the children they have borne out of the failed and broken relationships. Mothers are suffering in meeting the demand to cater for basic needs of these children. Men seem u bothered in taking the responsibility of their children leaving women at risk. This is a growing trend in Africa and world wide
