On a run that seemed so long cut shortA
I felt abandoned by those who birthed meB
Spending tireless days weepingC
Under the hand that once tamed meB
Now turned away and inflicting bruisesD
-
I could call him RamesesE
For countless back stabs he inflictedF
On my bleeding bodyB
He drank all my milk and honeyB
A bee inside a housefly skinG
-
He chastised me for crimes I knew notH
Peeled me limb to limb like a potatoI
Roasted me on fire knowing I d be cookedJ
And cast grievous curses on meB
Decades later he danced to tunes of my victoryB
-
Like iron ore his iron smith handsK
Carried me summoned fire all over meB
Knowing not Goliath s dagger was being craftedF
Decades after his curse victory prevailedL
Recalling the day I became a man at twelveM
-
Under the wrath of his majesty RamesesE
A new dawn aroseN
Wounds heal but scars remainO
If only I had a script writerP
To translate the Egypt of my old daysQ

Poet's note: EGYPT OF MY OLD DAYS is a poem based on a Personal experience, capturing what I passed through at a certain age. Staying with a relative who treated me badly so upon returning home my Dad said, "You were indeed in Egypt" referring it to how Israelite's were saved from EGYPT to CANAAN. That painful past dragged me into writing a Poem, bringing imaginations of that old character (me) into a literature work.
