When I woke up this morningA
I saw snowflakesB
Falling over treesC
Some seemed like fernsD
Others fell like diamond dustsE
The purest of the pureF
The whitest whiteG
-
The crisp white snowH
Blanketed the groundI
And embedded itselfJ
To where it fellK
So pristineL
Like a wonderlandM
-
The scenery before my eyesN
Took me to the realmO
Of my childhood daysP
It reminded meQ
Of that little girlR
Way back homeS
In my motherlandM
Where snowflakesB
Never landM
-
I went outsideT
Wearing three layers of clothesU
My body was still chilledV
Yet my heart felt warmW
And I let my mindX
Pondered ChristmasY
-
Suddenly an incidentZ
Long time agoH
Just crossed my mindX
My late father was holdingA
A driftwoodA2
For our family'sChristmas treeQ
-
The little girl cleaned the driftwoodA2
Took away the scruffy branchesB2
While her motherC2
Made the ornamentsD2
The little brotherC2
Got some tide powderC2
Diluted with waterC2
And made suds all overC2
-
Brother and sisterC2
Played with the sudsE2
Throwing themF2
Into the airG2
The wind carriedH2
And scattered themF2
Just to be droppedI2
In accord with the rhythm of natureC2
Like snowflakesB
Falling on the groundI
-
The rest of the sudsE2
They put them on the branchesB2
And trunk of the driftwoodA2
And they let them dryJ2
On their ownK2
They made a white Christmas treeQ
Out from scratchL2
The suds resembled crumpled snowH
Attached to the driftwoodA2
At the tip of the branchesB2
Small star lanterns were hungM2
-
Too many memoriesC
Of yerterday'sChristmasesC
Like snow piled upN2
They lingered in my mindX
Pinched my heartO2
And brought me backP2
To my homelandM
-
Yet even away from homeS
I still fondly carryQ
Those deep rootedQ2
Christmas traditionsC
That bring out family's treasuresC
And make my family circleR2
Closer to heartO2
-
Christmas spirit binds usC
It closes the gapS2
Among usC
Even just for the meantimeT2
And our heartsC
Beat as oneU2
As we celebrateV2
The birth of Jesus ChristW2
