He sat under a shade
Recounting stories of age
Tears rolled down his cheeks
As He writes about history
He was so brave
He fought in wars
He won many battles
Yet lost this one
“Nothing is fair in love and war”
He murmured silently
As He nod his head in sorrow
He was a soldier
Who returned home
After losing his legs
His wife gone
Married to another
As he records his achievements
He caught sight of a little boy
An orphan he is
After losing both parents at age 3
“Pa Commando” the lad called out
Smiles on his face
As he waved from a far
Waving back, He wiped his tears
“If that lad can be happy, I can too”
He said to himself
Yes he regained strength
She was lost in thoughts
Her mind wander about
The pain too much to bear
She thought of suicide
She trusted her best friend
She'd have given up her own life
Just to see her to the end
Yet she stabbed Her to the heart
“Why would she do that?”
“Did she take Me for a rat?”
“Let Me end it all”
She said to herself
Wanting to jump over the bridge
She is engaged
About to get married
Her best friend eloped
With her Fiancé
As Her leg almost slipped
A little girl smiled to Her
Lovely dimples she had
She burst into tears
The damsel facial expression charming
Coming down the bridge
She headed for a hug
Yes she regained strength
