My Love Affair Didn't Last Long Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDEF GHEIJKL LDMNEEO PMEQRST

She walked with me through the living roomA
We lingered for a while at the doorwayB
I kissed her lips before I opened the front doorC
And I felt her tenderness as never beforeC
Her embrace was as warm as her loveD
I wished for the day when we could meet openlyE
So I d feel free to visit her whenever I wishF
-
She knew that I had to go home before it got darkG
But she held me as if she wanted me to stay overnightH
She stood by the gate and waved at meE
And she stayed there until I turned off the avenueI
We felt that our love would last for a long timeJ
I kept thinking about her at the bus stopK
And I was dying to see her again while I was on the busL
-
Love was the only thing that brought us happinessL
Although we defied the principles it was a torrid loveD
We wanted the satisfaction and pleasures of lifeM
Our hearts weren t content with a concealed love affairN
The whole thing appeared to be an erotic fantasyE
We were blind to the consequences of adulteryE
And we continued an affair that shouldn t have startedO
-
I was finally confronted with the thing I most fearedP
And I had to choose between her and my wifeM
I completed the writing of our fascinating love storyE
Now I don t want to stop reading the chaptersQ
It s unfortunate that our romance ended long agoR
But I still can t wake up from the deep tranceS
The best love affair that I ever had didn t last longT
