My Last Night On The Mountain Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEF FGHIJJ KLMFNB OPQRFS JOTUVWX FOYZFF

The colourful light of sunset drops out of sightA
And the dull shade of night fills the skyB
This is my last walk through the rocky pathsC
My eyes will gaze at the fruitful valley belowD
I shall sit on top of the white gravestoneE
And I shall have silent moments of meditationF
-
My heart is well at home here on the mountainF
I stare in awe at the magnificent heavensG
And I feel so close to Jehovah the source of lifeH
The thin cool air is flowing through my lungsI
While I am humming a sacred melodyJ
I tell the distant stars in the black space my storyJ
-
On the crest of the mount I find contentmentK
I stretch out my hands towards the celestial bodiesL
And it appears that I am touching the full moonM
I treasure my last few hours alone on the mountainF
My soul delights in the quiet surroundingsN
This is where I sincerely want to live and dieB
-
Daybreak will bring sadness to my heartO
My good spirit will end when the sun risesP
Tomorrow I must go back to an inconvenient placeQ
Noisy contentious people await me thereR
I pray that I may stay here on the mountainF
Oh Lord let me live among the flora and faunaS
-
Though my eyes are getting wearyJ
I must not fall asleep and lose the tranquillityO
The crack of dawn will soon appearT
And my paradise will not exist anymoreU
I shall miss the songs of the cricketsV
The twinkling bioluminescence of the firefliesW
And the frequent hooting of the owlsX
-
How I treasure my last night on the mountainF
The rural terrain pleases me more than the cityO
But I shall never set foot on this land againY
This is my last night free from pain and stressZ
My last night of solitude and satisfactionF
And my last night of peaceful rest on the mountainF
