The Creator created his creations
Women wonderfully made,
Adamically ripped and fashioned
A life companion.
They salt and spice the earth
Men favoured and disfavoured
in their arms,
Though necessitated by nature
A necessary evil.
Mothers supportive and supreme
Nine months of heavy laden,
They bear the sweet pains
Relentlessly she nurses and nurtured
her child.
Not all women are mothers
But mothers are women
Not all husbands are fathers
Some cultural husbands
While many are semen donors.
Women treasure to be treasured
Their presence spice meaning to life
Imagine life without them,
Hell on earth.
Why save for her funeral?
Breathe life to your mother
Be gracious to your helpmeet
Exist to coexist,
She is your earthly god.
Salt Of The Earth
Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke
Poet's note: This poem is dedicated to all mothers in the world. The poem calls for humanity to appreciate their mothers and men to appreciate and adore their wives. Women are our second god. They have the human power to elongate or end our existence. Eve was created from Adam and Adam was created from the dust.
