Mary Bateman Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDB EFEFGG HEIEJJ KLKLMN

My love she wears a cotton plaidA
A bonnet of the strawB
Her cheeks are leaves of roses spreadC
Her lips are like the hawB
In truth she is as sweet a maidD
As true love ever sawB
-
Her curls are ever in my eyesE
As nets by Cupid flungF
Her voice will oft my sleep surpriseE
More sweet then ballad sungF
O Mary Bateman's curling hairG
I wake and there is nothing thereG
-
I wake and fall asleep againH
The same delights in visions riseE
There's nothing can appear more plainI
Than those rose cheeks and those bright eyesE
I wake again and all aloneJ
Sits Darkness on his ebon throneJ
-
All silent runs the silver TrentK
The cobweb veils are all wet throughL
A silver bead's on every bentK
On every leaf a bleb of dewL
I sighed the moon it shone so clearM
Was Mary Bateman walking hereN
