We planted
Didn't harvest
Who would dare them?
The evil men
With Kalashes
And AK47s,
Who would dare them
With dane guns
Bows and arrows?
Their stock in trade
Is to kill
And destroy
And rape
And kill our women
Like an invading force
From the pit of hell!
Yet they look
The other way
And like the ostrich
With head buried
Deep in the sand
They pretend
Nothing's happening
Or explain it off:
Farmers rustle their "Senior Citizens"
The killings are reprisals
Even on those they kill on our highways!

Poet's note: "Marauders II" continues the theme in "Marauders I" on the nefarious activities of Fulani herdsmen who kill, rape women and destroy crops. The poem descries government's insensitivity to the plight of the people.
