The falcon cannot hear the falconerA
Things fall apart the centre cannot holdB
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the worldC

The last of itE
For each day the dramaF
Keeps unfolding enlargingG

The strong man keeps talkingG
Keeps threatening barkingG
Like a rabid dog caught in a killing trapH
Ready to bite anyone that dares come closeI

The hunter's become the quarryA
Hunted by the very memoriesJ
Of his ignominious past afraid the trapsK
He'd set for others may catch him as he beats about the bushL

The actors suddenly have become spectatorsM
Throwing away the scripts they'd craftedN
For the melodrama they'd longed to stageO
The protagonist having missed his cueP
Things have fallen apartQ
And the centre cannot hold together againR

Poet's note: In the spirit of the "Season of Madness" the poet observes the attitude and utterances of the decampee Governor and thinks he is crying wolf where there's none. He is the one with the structure and apparatus to inflict terror on his opponents, yet he is the one conplaing of being atop threatened.
