Sonnet Xi — The Prayer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABC DDEE FGHGII

I've seen losers win the raceA
I've seen weak ones keep the paceA
I've seen longer shots from way behindB
I've sought a voluble and a voluble was nowhere foundC
-
I made promises broke them allD
I made golden towers and I watched them fallD
I made Caesar mine I made tons of goldE
I sought my book and found my story was never toldE
-
I pray for a stronger backF
I pray for a patient heartG
I pray for the wisdom to seeH
When and where to startG
May I have a quiet mouth and a beauteous smileI
I don't pray for riches please success can wait a whileI
