And the bees that bite and the bees that sting | A |

Nor noticed by mountain goats and hummingbirds | D |
But kept in gloom the only few petals | E |
And a thousand thorns by its sepal | F |

And that special rose it budded three in winter | C |
A thousand filaments it developed with love | G |
That when the butterflies will come up from the river | C |
They shall sip from the only flower they have | H |

But autumn came and the petals fell | F |
And the butterflies there they fly | F |
And so the one butterfly he knew so well | F |
That the roots of a rose will never die | F |
