SIR OZANAA
-
All day long and every dayB
From Christmas Eve to Whit SundayB
Within that Chapel aisle I layB
And no man came a nearC
-
Naked to the waist was ID
And deep within my breast did lieD
Though no man any blood could spyD
The truncheon of a spearC
-
No meat did ever pass my lipsE
Those days Alas the sunlight slipsE
From off the gilded parclose dipsE
And night comes on apaceF
-
My arms lay back behind my headG
Over my raised up knees was spreadG
A samite cloth of white and redG
A rose lay on my faceF
-
Many a time I tried to shoutH
But as in dream of battle routH
My frozen speech would not well outH
I could not even weepI
-
With inward sigh I see the sunA
Fade off the pillars one by oneA
My heart faints when the day is doneA
Because I cannot sleepI
-
Sometimes strange thoughts pass through my headG
Not like a tomb is this my bedG
Yet oft I think that I am deadG
That round my tomb is writJ
-
Ozana of the hardy heartK
Knight of the Table RoundL
Pray for his soul lords of your partK
A true knight he was foundL
-
Ah me I cannot fathom itJ
-
He sleepsM
-
-
SIR GALAHADN
-
All day long and every dayB
Till his madness pass'd awayB
I watch'd Ozana as he layB
Within the gilded screenA
-
All my singing moved him notO
As I sung my heart grew hotO
With the thought of LauncelotO
Far away I weenA
-
So I went a little spaceF
From out the chapel bathed my faceF
In the stream that runs apaceF
By the churchyard wallP
-
There I pluck'd a faint wild roseQ
Hard by where the linden growsQ
Sighing over silver rowsQ
Of the lilies tallP
-
I laid the flower across his mouthR
The sparkling drops seem'd good for drouthR
He smiled turn'd round towards the southR
Held up a golden tressS
-
The light smote on it from the westT
He drew the covering from his breastT
Against his heart that hair he prestT
Death him soon will blessS
-
-
SIR BORSU
-
I enter'd by the western doorV
I saw a knight's helm lying thereW
I raised my eyes from off the floorV
And caught the gleaming of his hairW
-
I stept full softly up to himX
I laid my chin upon his headG
I felt him smile my eyes did swimX
I was so glad he was not deadG
-
I heard Ozana murmur lowY
There comes no sleep nor any loveZ
But Galahad stoop'd and kiss'd his browA2
He shiver'd I saw his pale lips moveB2
-
-
SIR OZANAA
-
There comes no sleep nor any loveZ
Ah me I shiver with delightC2
I am so weak I cannot moveB2
God move me to thee dear to nightC2
Christ help I have but little witJ
My life went wrong I see it writJ
-
Ozana of the hardy heartK
Knight of the Table RoundL
Pray for his soul lords on your partK
A good knight he was foundL
-
Now I begin to fathom itJ
-
He diesD2
-
-
SIR BORSU
-
Galahad sits dreamilyY
What strange things may his eyes seeE2
Great blue eyes fix'd full on meE2
On his soul Lord have mercyE2
-
-
SIR GALAHADN
-
Ozana shall I pray for theeE2
Her cheek is laid to thineA
No long time hence also I seeE2
Thy wasted fingers twineA
-
Within the tresses of her hairW
That shineth gloriouslyE2
Thinly outspread in the clear airW
Against the jasper seaE2
