A Man Young And Old:- The Friends Of His Youth Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFEGHIH JK FLMNM

Laughter not time destroyed my voiceA
And put that crack in itB
And when the moon's pot belliedC
I get a laughing fitB
For that old Madge comes down the laneD
A stone upon her breastE
And a cloak wrapped about the stoneF
And she can get no restE
With singing hush and hush a byeG
She that has been wildH
And barren as a breaking waveI
Thinks that the stone's a childH
-
And Peter that had great affairsJ
And was a pushing manK
Shrieks 'I am King of the Peacocks '-
And perches on a stoneF
And then I laugh till tears run downL
And the heart thumps at my sideM
Remembering that her shriek was loveN
And that he shrieks from prideM
