his knee down on my neck
is it because I’m black?
I felt the weight of oppression
suffocating me
I cried and cried
the same way my ancestors did
I can’t breathe..I can’t breathe…I can’t breathe…
over and over
why can’t these people listen
good grief
I am going home
gasping once more
thinking of my family
and so much more
does the world care for me?
I don’t think so
nowhere to go
