Today I am tired of his handsA
He used them to hurt meB
I tried to calm his angerC
But each time I failed miserablyB
Hoping that things will get betterC
It felt as my soul was shatteredD
And He act regrettedE
Told me how much he loves meB
And he will torn me no moreF
Over and over againG
-
Battered and bruisedH
I hid the scars on my faceI
He watched me like a hawkJ
And whispered warnings to my earsK
I was alone only God knewL
The trials I went throughL
I am broken that my son had to seeB
What he kept doing to meB
-
He bought for meB
Everything that my heart desiresM
But I felt poorN
In front of my sistersM
All I wanted was freedomO
And to cry no moreF
Away from his clawsP
Hoping he will sign to divorceQ
-
It is enoughR
I want to be freeB
And I stopped hidingS
My cry to freedomO
For he truly did not love meB
And I know I will grow strongerC
Today I am tired of his handsA
And he will use them no longerC

Poet's note: Gender Based Violence is a serious issue in South Africa and worldwide for both genders, especially women. This poem I wrote expressed the life of an victim who were viciously abused and treated badly by her husband.I wrote this poem for all who are eager to put this crime to an end and those who are going through these trials.I want to express hope for the victims, they should feel that it is not the end of the world. They can stand up,they are stronger than they think. It means to me a lot and this poem gives a perfect view of the brutality of gender based violence.
