Vain Questioning Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEECC CCFFGG HHII

What needest thou a few brief hours of restA
Wherein to seek thyself in thine own breastA
A transient silence wherein truth could sayB
Such was thy constant hope and this thy wayB
O burden of life that isC
A livelong tangle of perplexitiesC
-
What seekest thou a truce from that thou artD
Some steadfast refuge from a fickle heartD
Still to be thou and yet no thing of scornE
To find no stay here and yet not forlornE
O riddle of life that isC
An endless war 'twixt contrarietiesC
-
Leave this vain questioning Is not sweet the roseC
Sings not the wild bird ere to rest he goesC
Hath not in miracle brave June returnedF
Burns not her beauty as of old it burnedF
O foolish one to roamG
So far in thine own mind away from homeG
-
Where blooms the flower when her petals fadeH
Where sleepeth echo by earth's music madeH
Where all things transient to the changeless winI
There waits the peace thy spirit dwelleth inI
