Ages Ago Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCCB DEFFFE GHIICH JKLLLK

Launcelot loved GuinevereA
Ages and ages agoB
Beautiful as a bird was sheC
Preening its wings in a cypress treeC
Happy in sadness she and heC
They loved each other soB
-
Helen of Troy was beautifulD
As tender flower in MayE
Her loveliness from the towers looked downF
With the sweet moon for silver crownF
Over the walls of Troy TownF
Hundreds of years awayE
-
Cleopatra Egypt's QueenG
Was wondrous kind to kenH
As when the stars in the dark skyI
Like buds on thorny branches lieI
So seemed she too to AntonyC
That age gone prince of menH
-
The Pyramids are old stonesJ
Scarred is that grey faceK
That by the greenness of Old NileL
Gazes with an unchanging smileL
Man with all mystery to beguileL
And give his thinking graceK
