In The Morning Of Life Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFDGDG HIHJIKIL

In the morning of life when its cares are unknownA
And its pleasures in all their new lustre beginB
When we live in a bright beaming world of our ownA
And the light that surrounds us is all from withinB
Oh 'tis not believe me in that happy timeC
We can love as in hours of less transport we mayD
Of our smiles of our hopes 'tis the gay sunny primeC
But affection is truest when these fade awayD
-
When we see the first glory of youth pass us byE
Like a leaf on the stream that will never returnF
When our cup which had sparkled with pleasure so highE
First tastes of the other the dark flowing urnF
Then then in the time when affection holds swayD
With a depth and a tenderness joy never knewG
Love nursed among pleasures is faithless as theyD
But the love born of Sorrow like Sorrow is trueG
-
In climes full of sunshine though splendid the flowersH
Their sighs have no freshness their odour no worthI
'Tis the cloud and the mist of our own Isle of showersH
That call the rich spirit of fragrancy forthJ
So it is not 'mid splendour prosperity mirthI
That the depth of Love's generous spirit appearsK
To the sunshine of smiles it may first owe its birthI
But the soul of its sweetness is drawn out by tearsL
