The House Of Hospitalities Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD AEAE BFBF GHGH

Here we broached the Christmas barrelA
Pushed up the charred log endsB
Here we sang the Christmas carolA
And called in friendsB
-
Time has tired me since we met hereC
When the folk now dead were youngD
And the viands were outset hereC
And quaint songs sungD
-
And the worm has bored the violA
That used to lead the tuneE
Rust eaten out the dialA
That struck night's noonE
-
Now no Christmas brings in neighboursB
And the New Year comes unlitF
Where we sang the mole now laboursB
And spiders knitF
-
Yet at midnight if here walkingG
When the moon sheets wall and treeH
I see forms of old time talkingG
Who smile on meH
