Sonnet To Music. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFGHHGHail Heavenly Maid my pensive mind | A |
Invokes thy woe subduing strain | B |
For there a shield my soul can find | A |
Which subjugates each dagger'd pain | B |
When beauty spurns the lover's sighs | C |
'Tis thine soft pity to inspire | D |
And cold indifference vanquish'd lies | C |
Beneath thy myrtle vested lyre | D |
Oh could contention's demon hear | E |
Thy seraph voice his blood lav'd spear | F |
He'd drop and own thy power | G |
That smiling o'er each hapless land | H |
Sweet peace might call her hallow'd band | H |
To crown the festive hour | G |
