| And bursting thunders roll their awful din | B |
| While shrieks the frighted night bird o'er the spot | A |
| Oh what serenity remains within | B |
| For there Contentment Health and Peace abide | C |
| And pillow'd age with calm eye fix'd above | D |
| Labor's bold son his blithe and blooming bride | C |
| And lisping innocence and filial love | D |
| To such a scene let proud Ambition turn | E |
| Whose aching breast conceals it's secret woe | F |
| Then shall his fireful spirit melt and mourn | G |
| The mild enjoyments it can never know | F |
| Then shall he feel the littleness of state | H |
| And sigh that Fortune e'er had made him great | H |
