Sonnet Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFGFHHWhen the rough storm roars round the peasant's cot | A |
And bursting thunders roll their awful din | B |
While shrieks the frighted night bird o'er the spot | A |
Oh what serenity remains within | B |
For there Contentment Health and Peace abide | C |
And pillow'd age with calm eye fix'd above | D |
Labor's bold son his blithe and blooming bride | C |
And lisping innocence and filial love | D |
To such a scene let proud Ambition turn | E |
Whose aching breast conceals it's secret woe | F |
Then shall his fireful spirit melt and mourn | G |
The mild enjoyments it can never know | F |
Then shall he feel the littleness of state | H |
And sigh that Fortune e'er had made him great | H |
