The Propagandist Upstairs Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDE FGHIJ KCLMN GOPAH QRSTU VWXYW

Whenever I tie my shoelaces to accomplish somethingA
Every time I want to take a significant step in my lifeB
I hear echoes of menaces whimpering inside my craniumC
An unseen voice whispering to me that I cannot make itD
My hopes deflate like a punctured balloon and I give upE
-
I am convinced there is an antagonist in my intellectF
The terrorist who dwells upstairs and regulates my decisionsG
I suspect he is not on my side he must be an opponentH
Because he hasn t told me anything constructive yetI
His diction contains threats discouragements and negativityJ
-
I know very well that all the things we want in life are possibleK
But from whence do these debilitating testimonials comeC
Because whenever it s about kick off he is a step aheadL
He gives me thoughts of people who tried and then flunkedM
Causing me to forget that failure on first attempt is an enzymeN
-
Even when I decide to appeal to the Almighty for favoursG
The one in my psyche throws the verdict before I get to the last amenO
And I m left with no other option than to cut it shortP
I cut it short because I hate wasting time for nothingA
Delayed bouts are not my type of entertainmentH
-
I can t sleep trying to figure out a way to get rid of the terroristQ
I can hardly sleep thinking about the undeniable factR
The fact that the terrorist is stronger than I amS
Yet he is none other than my fearful versionT
The one that is extremely difficult to consolidateU
-
I have depended on this terrorist for a long time but I ve had enoughV
My decisions have long rested on his wishes but not anymoreW
For I discovered the terrorist is a propagandistX
Disheartenment is his tone and pessimism his accentY
My respects have ceased and I will listen to him no moreW

Poet's note: I was thinking about all the things I failed to accomplish in life. I came up with the conclusion that I am my own enemy...
